Huh? Well, we didn’t know this tradition either until we moved here. Port Gamble is the peninsula of land that we look at from our back deck. It’s about a ten-minute drive from our location, and absolutely worth the drive.
As we’re beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel for construction (we hope!) this blog will transition to highlighting events and opportunities around us. We’re starting very close this week… check out just how close!
December 11th and 12th are Port Gamble’s “Country Christmas” celebration dates. There’s something for everyone – crafts in Santa’s workshop for the kids, pony rides, plenty of shopping, hay rides, and FIREWORKS at 5pm on Saturday (the only holiday fireworks show in western Washington!). One of our favorite restaurants – Butcher & Baker Provisions – is also located in Port Gamble, so we can always count on a good meal. Oh, and did we mention the 100,000 lights the town puts on display? It’s really something to see!
Of course, being the incredibly lucky people that we are… we’ll head over to check out the entertainment early, but we’ll be sure to be home in time for the fireworks, since we can enjoy them from our back deck snuggled under blankets with some hot chocolate!
It wouldn’t be a Christmas celebration without Santa, but Port Gamble has that covered as well. Santa himself is taking a day off from toy preparations to make an appearance!
We hope everyone has a chance to celebrate their holiday of choice with friends and families this month. We’ll be back next week with more construction updates.
Our gift certificates make a great gift for all holidays!
